Blue Hawaii is a 1961 American musical romantic comedy film set in the state of Hawaii and starring Elvis Presley. Elvis plays G.I. Chad Gates who is returning home to the Hawaiian Islands after a 2 year stint in the service. His father wants him to go to work in his pineapple business, the Great Southern Hawaiian Fruit Company, but Chad is reluctant. All Chad wants to do is have a good time with his surf-board, his beach buddies, and his girlfriend. So Chad goes to work as a tour guide at his girlfriend's agency!

The soundtrack album for this movie is not only Elvis Presley's most successful chart album, but it is also the #1 album overall for 1961.
